COLUMBUS, Ga. — The Facebook page of our city’s ‘favorite nephew’ and widely-successful local crime reporter, Colin Scroggins CNAW News 2, was rendered inaccessible to the public on September 15.

The page, which has become an absolute staple for local news in the Columbus, Georgia area, was no longer able to be found by users on the social media site. The page had over 109,000 followers at the time of its disappearance.

According to a widely-distributed screenshot image allegedly depicting a messenger conversation between Colin and a reader, Colin attributed the page’s inaccessibility to the following:

“Facebook appears to be silencing me from posting any further due to ‘account integrity’ … whatever that means.”

According to Facebook parent company Meta, the “account integrity” section of its community standards relates to the overall integrity of the account.

The wording of Meta’s policy on the subject appears to be largely arbitrary and subject to whomever — or whatever — happens to be interpreting it at any particular moment; it could easily mean one thing to one person, and something completely different to someone else.

The policy does not appear to be legitimately enforceable by any serious standard.

In the meantime, while Colin’s Facebook page remains out-of-service, you can follow his work on a social media platform that doesn’t censor its own users based on arbitrary draconian “policy”

You can get your daily fix of Colin’s stellar reporting by following  his Twitter (X) @cnaw_colin.

We’re sure he’ll keep us all posted on the status and story of his facebook page as time goes on.

Facts are stubborn things — and we’ll keep publishing them, whether city officials like them or not.
